What is Virtual Hard Disk?
-Virtual Hard Disk is Hard disk drive which exist virtually not physically.
How many types of Virtual Hard Disk available in Windows?
-Two types
-Fixed Size and Dynamically Expanding
Difference Between Fixed Size and Dynamically Expanding?
-Fixed Size: Occupies full space as the size of Virtual Hard Disk you created, doesn't matter whether the data amount stored is lesser.
-Dynamically Expanding: Occupies only space equals to amount of data stored in it.
How it works?
-When you will create Virtual Hard Disk, it will be saved in specific drive in your computer as a ".vhd" file.
-When you will add data in your Virtual Hard Disk, size of ".vhd" file will increase.
-And you can more your ".vhd" file anywhere in other drives and folders but after detaching.
-And after moving to desired location you can attach again.
-Attach and Detach you will see in below Video.

Steps How to Create Virtual Hard Disk
- Right Click on My Computer
- Then Click Manage
- Computer Management Window will open in front of you.
- Click on Disk Management and wait to load drives.
- Right Click on Disk Management
- And Click Create VHD
- Set VHD location, set size and select Dynamically expanding from Radio buttons.
- Click Ok
Now your Virtual Hard Disk has been created.
